Doctors, insurance, and lab work can get a littleee frustrating. The Doc may not order the correct things, they may go off large and outdated reference ranges, or they may not pull labs under appropriate situations.

Females, this ESPECIALLY applies to us: We have a menstrual cycle where for roughly 2 weeks, we’re producing estrogen. We (hopefully) ovulate, and then (hopefully) begin producing progesterone for roughly 2 weeks. Rinse and repeat. We CANNOT roll into the doctor’s office on ‘any ol’ day’ & get labs done or we’re likely going to waste some serious time and moolah.

Embrace that we may have to ‘pay to play’ to get lab work that’s worth a darn. It may NOT be covered by insurance and we MAY have to drop quite a few hundro out of pocket. There’s just no trumping @dutchtest if you want hormone labs, it’s the shiz.

Worth noting that Reference & Optimal Ranges are not the same thing. We want to be in the upper 3/4 of the range. For ex: if Vitamin D comes back a 34 (ref= 30-100), we might consider additional supplementation.

Thyroid Testing:
We need 5 values to properly assess thyroid function
Your doctor will likely NOT pull them all unless requested.
Check results against the optimal ranges listed below:
⚡️Free T3 (3.0-4.5)
⚡️Free T4 (1.0 – 1.53)
⚡️TSH (I.8-3.0)
⚡️Thyroid Antibodies (<10)
⚡️TGAb (0-0.9)
Sub-optimal values? We may NOT see fat loss if put into a caloric deficit.
Get to cranking on those nutrition, lifestyle, and exercise changes and consider hiring an experienced coach (:

Female Hormone Testing:
⚡️@dutchtest – Best investment of your stripper dollas. The most comprehensive testing available via dried urinalysis that encompasses hormones & metabolites
⚡️Second best bet would be to pull Estradiol, Progesterone, LH, FSH, DHEA, SHBG, Testosterone, and all Thyroid on Day 19 of cycle
⚡️We CANNOT pull labs while on hormonal birth control, must be free of HBC for *3 months*

Male Hormone Testing:
⚡️Free and Total Testosterone, DHEA, Estradiol, SHBG, all Thyroid values
