Jumped aboard the natural beauty product train yet?

Consider doing a little ingredient double-check on the products in your bathroom before we go to the grocery store today.

Despite the growing trend of avoiding processed foods and buying more natural/organic foods – we do a pretty crummy job of monitoring the ingredients in our skincare, haircare, cosmetics, and body products.

Unfortunately, many of these are products are stealthily full of chemicals that disrupt our HPA axis, hormones, or thyroid function!

Statistics show men use about an average of 6 personal care products daily, where women use at least 12 (and that chemical exposure party is clearly just getting started for those of us who use and love makeup). Regardless, that means a minimum of 80-125+ ingredients/chemicals you’re coming into contact on the daily – noooo bueno.

Ingredients to Watch Out For?
Parabens – Known xenoestrogen (synthetic chemicals that mimic estrogen in the body). Found in water-based products like shampoo, cleansers, shower gels, lotions

Sodium Lauryl Sulfates & Polyethylene Glycol – Sudsing agents that are toxic to kidneys, neurological, & respiratory system. Found in shampoos, conditioners, soaps, shower gels

Phthalates – Can mess with hormones & endocrine system. Found in anything that lists fragrance on the label

Fluoride – Just don’t. There’s SO many red flags. Dr Axe has a great comprehensive article on this if you wish to read up. Found in toothpaste, mouthwash
