I even went above and beyond to categorize everything by no-cook food ideas, minimal prep food ideas, and budget-friendly options (where you essentially get rewarded for doing the most by cooking the most and thus get to save the most).
Also, lol: ever take 150+ pics at the grocery store of you holding stuff? Me neither.
If trying to ball on a budget, grocery shopping at stores like Walmart and ALDI really are one of the easiest and best ways to keep down your food costs (which feels extra important right now, considering you basically have to sell a kidney or your first born child to afford feeding yourself, let alone a family and kids. Here’s praying inflation calms down soon!)
I also included how much protein each food had, since protein is an area that people really struggle with and historically tend fall short on. A great generic protein goal for most would people would be to get 0.7-1.0 grams of protein per pound bodyweight.
My biggest nutrition tip is to let nutrition be easy. I’ve been sharing about “The Rule of 3’s” for years and years now. It’s a fool proof, stress-free way to grocery shop and meal plan for the week. And I don’t exaggerate when I say it will change your life.
The Rule of 3’s: buy 3 different proteins, 3 carbs, 3 fats, 3 veggies, 3 fruits.
Build each meal by combing a protein, carb, fat, fruit, and veggie. Then the next time you go shopping, switch up what you buy in each category so you don’t get burnt out or bored.
